NEW HEROES GET A TASTE OF ADVENTURE IN THE ‘RAT RUN’

Concerned about the increasing levels of danger faced by the people of Bereny, Lord Casper Von Kronnel, a minor noble and entrepreneur of the city of Lionel, has set up a "Hall Of Excellence and Preparation", in which he claims he can train new or inexperienced adventurers in the art of staying alive in a dungeon. However his enterprise has already earned the more popular local nickname of the ‘Rat Run’.

Lord Casper has converted the ruins of an old castle cellar and some nearby caves into a small dungeon, in which novice adventurers can quickly gain a taste of what it is to live the life of a dungeon-delving hero, and gain some skills and experience that will stand them in good stead in their future exploits. He claims that his 'manufactured' dungeon will allow newcomers to the adventuring trade to improve their abilities in an environment which, while not precisely safe, is certainly less threatening than some of the deadlier dungeons of the Kingdom.

His dungeon has the added benefit of keeping the City of Lionel's immediately vicinity clear of dangerous marauders, and there are plans to offer guided ‘Dungeon Tours’ to curious townspeople.

More experienced adventurers have been a little more scathing of the benefits of such an artificial adventuring experience. “Hall of excellence and preparation my arse!” one veteran adventurer told the Bugle. “Things were done the hard way in my day, and it never did me any harm.”
