“BRING ME THE HEAD OF URYEN D’AGRILLAC”

Dateline: 10-7-518

King Dirk has demanded the head of renegade noble Uryen d’Agrillac, who remains at large in western Moonward over a year after being driven from his stronghold at Kerak Falcone by Crown forces, and whose ‘Popular Front for the Liberation of Bereny’ forces continue to harass and extort money from travellers around Hell’s Deep.

The former baron himself is reported to be near the entrance to Hell’s Deep, and sent a renewed demand to the King that he abdicate from the throne, accompanied by a veiled threat against the life of Prince Dickon should he refuse.

This drew an immediate and angry response from the KIng; “I will not tolerate threats against the life of my son. Is there no one who will bring me the head of this filth? I'd fetch it myself if my current business was less urgent. I will grant a barony to whoever strikes him down.”

A Crown spokesman confirmed that Uryen and his followers were wanted for “various high crimes related to his attempt to seize control of the d'Agrillac estate and raise the countryside against the Crown”, and that the offer of a barony to whoever kills him has been added to the existing reward of 5,000 gp. A further reward has been offered by the White Tower for Uryen’s death.

Uryen himself has denied that he and his followers are outlaws, describing himself as a freedom fighter, and King Dirk as a tyrant and usurper. He has promised that travellers on roads in the area have nothing to fear so long as they pay ‘taxes’ to him to support his war against the Crown, and has even claimed that his followers are protecting travellers by keeping the area free of brigands.

They are reported to have re-occupied the derelict castle of Ynis Mor, high in the Spirit Mountains. The castle is in an extremely defensible position, as it occupies an island in a lake in a narrow valley surrounded on all sides by impenetrable peaks and accessible only by a narrow pass through the mountains.

Last year a Bereny Bugle reporter, Bob Woodward, was murdered near Hell’s Deep by members of the PFLB while investigating Uryen’s activities.

“It appears that the Crown forces are failing to keep the roads around Hells Deep safe from bad guys”, Master Trader Jonas Ravenwing told the Bugle. “I am but a humble merchant with a couple of guards, certainly in no position to intervene in any military matters.”
