FLYING SAUCERS IN

THE FRONTIER

Dateline: 12-3-517

Reports have been received by the Bugle of ‘weird artefacts’ being discovered in the jungles of Frontier to the north of Bordertown. What has been discovered appears to be some sort of huge disc-shaped conveyance.

The attention of the people of Bordertown was first drawn to the area by reports of odd noises and lights in the sky, and one report describing what the witness called a ‘flying saucer’.

The reports were strange enough for Silverswift, a centaur of the Centaur Council, to venture into the jungle to investigate. What he discovered were five mysterious objects on or partly dug into the ground. He described them as each being like a huge metal disc, larger than three grass huts. Looking at the ground, there were deep gouges beneath each of the discs, suggesting that they fell from the sky.

Investigating further, he discovered a door-like portal in the base of one of the machines, and despite it seemingly being intended for a creature much smaller than a centaur, he managed to squeeze inside.

“Despite the size of the weird saucer device, the interior was very cramped,” Silverswift told the Bugle. “It was too claustrophobic for me to stay there for long. There were banks of machinery that I can only describe as impenetrable, but in the centre of it all was a chair. What manner of creature it was that would have sat there I’ve no idea, but it was definitely a chair. There was a strong smell of smoke, and I got the impression that whatever it might once have done, this particular machine was now dead.”

Swiftsure has since gained access to another of the machines, with similar results, and intends to try and gain entry to the other three as well to see if he can find any clues as to who these ‘saucer people’ might be.

“There have been previous reports of fallen metal objects from elsewhere in the Frontier,” Lord Gabriel Stryker, the Mayor of Bordertown, told the Bugle. “Indeed, we of the White Tower hold metal described as alien in origin and armour that was not apparently crafted for any known humanoid species. Some races use technologies unknown to Berenian science. We will continue to investigate.”
