WARNING OF MONSTERS MASSING AT NEW SEACOAST

Dateline: 6-2-517

The Psaurians have been little more than a rumour from Frontier until recently

The Kingdom has been sent a warning that a previously little-known race of monsters, the Psaurians, are massing around Bereny’s new seacoast in the far south east.

As previously reported by the Bugle, the new sea which has flooded low-lying areas of southeastern Frostward has brought previously unknown monsters to the Kingdom. The most significant of these have been the Psaurians.  Believed to have originated in Frontier, a Psaurian is an upright lizard-like creature with powerful jaws and a large muscular scaled body, that appears appear to be equally at home in the water and on land. Their skins range from light grey to dark green. They seem well organised and sophisticated, but their activities, as viewed thus far, would seem to suggest they are not a friendly race.

The warning was sent by a member of another recently arrived, though more friendly, race, the Merfolk. A Merman named Shanty set out with a small number of others to investigate reports of a partially submerged dungeon on the edge of the sea, known as the Deepwater Dungeon. The few who have previously entered and reported its existence to the Crown went no further than its entrance chambers but reported that it is difficult to negotiate for surface-dwellers. Shanty had hoped that he and his party of three Lizard Men, two Merfolk and a few "dry land" friends, would have more success.

However it would seem that the Psaurians have no desire to have anyone exploring the dungeon. Before they could even reach the it, they were ambushed by a large party of well-armed Psaurians. “We saw a road sign, presumably put up by the discoverers and giving directions to the newly found dungeon,” the Merman told the Bugle. “Unfortunately said sign was heavily defended by upwards of eight Psaurians. We attempted to retreat, but Psaurians are pretty fast, so there were a number of casualties. Others are in dire straits and we may not last much longer.”

Psaurians are known from one other place however. Unconfirmed reports from the Underworld suggest that they are the race behind the assault on the Dwarven realm of Caldor. If the same race is now massing on the surface and on Bereny’s border, Shanty’s message may be a timely warning to the Kingdom.
