EAGLES HERO OUTLAWED OVER REPORTER MURDER
Dateline: 04-
In a bizarre decision that has been criticised by their Commanding General, one the the Eagle’s greatest heroes has been outlawed by the Courts for responsibility for the murder of a Bereny Bugle reporter.
Our Torlia correspondent Bob Woodward was murdered while investigating reports that the remnants of Uryen d’Agrillac’s rebels were attacking travellers on the road from Hell’s Deep to Red Mountain. The direct culprits were a group of men claiming to be militia, but who were evidently rebels.
The Bereny Bugle has learnt that Uryen's forces have occupied the derelict castle of Ynis Mor, high in the Spirit Mountains. The castle occupies an island in a lake in a narrow valley surrounded on all sides by impenetrable peaks and accessible only by a narrow pass through the mountains.
Because of its remote location the castle has lain abandoned for many years, but evidently when the Courts consulted their records to determine who was legally responsible for its operations, they found deeds naming famed BEEF hero Roxanne d’Bergeras, and purely on the basis that she was legally responsible for any activities carried on within the castle, declared her an outlaw.
Sgt d’Bergeras is currently in the Brokenlands fighting in Castle Lexor to save Bereny from the evil minions of Lord Lexor, and could not be reached for comment. However the commander of the Bereny Eagle Elite Fighters was quick to jump to her defence.
“One of my members, Sergeant Roxanne d'Bergeras, fighting in Castle Lexor in the Brokenlands has reported that she has been outlawed, yet she has slain only enemies of the Crown”, General Elderon Gout told us. “The Courts have been unable to satisfactorily enlighten me as to to why this person has been outlawed. She is being held responsible for something which is nothing to do with her on a legal technicality based on some inherited family deed. She grew up in the Poldoon area and she has never even been to this Ynis Mor Castle.”
The Courts however were unmoved. A letter from the Royal Court clerk told the General
“Your member should have immediately written to the courts quoting their adventuring
license number and state their case -
Since she was out of contact in the Brokenlands, it would therefore appear that the Courts will not hear her appeal. General Gout is now considering a direct appeal to the King for a Royal pardon.
Meanwhile, from his new and seemingly impregnable base in the inaccessible peaks of the Spirit Mountains, it would appear that the true culprit is beyond the reach of the law.
