ORDER OF SELEDOR CRUSADES TO THE ABYSS

Dateline: 02-08-517

The Lord Crusader of Selador, Cerv Elan, has announced that the Order of Selador will be concentrating its attentions on the recently discovered dungeon known as The Abyss. The Order of Selador is following in the footsteps of the Dei Vigilare, who have already announced that they are taking a particular interest in this dungeon.

The Abyss lies in the far west of Bereny, close to the edge of the Brokenlands, and according to legend was the ancient home of a guild of demonologists called The Secret Society Of Twelve. It is reputed be a place where great secrets of the dark art of demonology can be found, which is exactly why the religious orders are so determined to gain entry to it and prevent any such secrets falling into the wrong hands.

Although a number of adventurers, including many from the Crusading orders or the Dei Vigilare, have congregated at the entrance to the dungeon, so far no-one has been able to enter it and live, as the entrance is guarded by a terrible demonic entity, Stan the Deviltaur, which has slain any who try to descend. However even the land around the entrance seems to be cursed and is roamed by large numbers of dangerous unnatural monsters such as werewolves, and other strange creatures unknown in Bereny which seem to have wandered in from the Brokenlands. As a result the casualty rate among the adventurers who have travelled there has been very high, and it appears that the religious orders have decided that it is time to bring greater force to bear.

The Lord Crusader has called on all members of his order who are able and who have sufficient strength to first muster at Icehaunt, then march to the Abyss to destroy what he describes as “that foul pit of denizens of the depths.”

“As it appears that the minions of the Dark Lords in this area boast considerable strength, this order applies only to experienced Crusaders of the Rank of Adamant and above,” the Lord Crusader continued.

The Lord Crusader has been notable in his presence at Crownheart, where he has joined with King Dirk in helping defend the city from the Helltroops. Clearly if he is departing from this task he must believe that the Abyss presents an even greater threat to the Kingdom.

For Crusaders of the required rank, Cerv Elan has made it clear that only exceptional reasons such as being on official Crown business will excuse absence from what he is openly describing as a Crusade.
