COLD FEET IN ICEHAUNT COURTYARD

Adventurers and traders in Icehaunt Dungeon were shocked by a sudden drop in the temperature in the courtyard, resulting in a rapid buildup of ice. So severe have the conditions in the dungeon become that many traders are being forced to quit the courtyard out of fear that they will freeze to death.

Although Icehaunt, the most southerly of the Crown-supported dungeon courtyards in Bereny, has always lived up to its name, its courtyard has at least provided some shelter from the freezing winds sweeping north from the glaciers through the forests of Frostward. The temperature within the courtyard, though always chill, has at least been relatively steady and consistent. The sudden drop in temperature has therefore caught everyone by surprise.

A rapid build-up of ice has left large areas of the courtyard icebound and inaccessible, and the courtyard floor treacherous. The mystic pool at the centre of the Guildhouse of the Order of the Silent Pond has become a mystic skating rink. Courtyard traders have been left huddling around braziers in an attempt to keep warm. Conditions in the surrounding dungeon are rumoured to be worse still.

There is universal agreement that some magical effect must be behind the temperature drop, although it is not clear whether some new magical has come into effect or whether some existing magic keeping the courtyard free of ice has failed. There are unconfirmed rumours that the change happened after adventurers exploring a region of the dungeon known as the Icehouse discovered and tampered with some sort of magical artefact there.

Whatever the cause, unless the change can be reversed, Icehaunt dungeon may become untenable by even the hardiest of Glacier Barbarians and may have to be abandoned.
