ROYAL ARMOURY CORRUPTION REVEALED BY ROYAL BLADE SCANDAL

Dateline: 27-09-517

The intrigue surrounding the re-issue of the Royal Blades took a dramatic turn today when Crown officials revealed that three junior armourers had been arrested over distribution of counterfeit Royal Blades.

This revelation came after several senior members of BEEF testified that when the Royal Blades were last given out by King Mark over ten years ago, they were distributed evenly between the Royal Guild of Adventurers and the Bereny Eagle Elite Fighters. “I don't know where you got your information, but there were three blades given to the RGA and three to the Eagles,” Baroness Calista Sureshot, Marshal of the Eagles and sister-in-law of the Duchess of Ghorst told the Bugle. “The RGA never had six blades.”

And in a letter to the Bugle former BEEF lieutenant Axelrod Blacktalon presented the original press release from the Royal Courts which states that “The King announced his intention to award three of the blades to the RGA, to be distributed by the guild-leader to members he felt had most earned them. Another three are to go to the Bereny Eagle Elite Fighters on the same basis.“ A seventh blade was retained by the Crown at the time for its owe use.

The scam involving the counterfeit Royal Blades came to light when the Royal Armourer investigated the re-issue of the Royal Blades to the RGA. In a startling demonstration of carelessness, the three journeymen armourers involved had mixed up delivery of genuine Royal Blades and sent out counterfeit ones instead. “During the confusion,” the Crown statement continued, “the journeymen tried to cover up their crime by forging paperwork which had the side-effect of bringing some guilds into conflict due to the confusion caused.”

“All blades have now been recalled and will be delivered promptly to their correct owners,” the statement continued, after revealing how the Royal Armourer had called in the Courts on learning of the corrupt practises going on in his department. “The Royal Armourer, although proven innocent of any part in the business, has accepted responsibility as head of the department and tendered his resignation.”

King Dirk however refused to accept the Royal Armourer’s resignation. “A man sufficiently honourable to have resigned despite being cleared of any wrongdoing is just the sort we need. He shall be re-instated as Royal Armourer forthwith.”

Meanwhile the leaders of the two Guilds at the centre of the controversy were quick to be seen to publicly patch up their relationship with each other.

“I trust that you will forgive my intemperate outburst and that we can restore the close working relationship that existed between our two guilds,” General Elderon Gout of the Eagles told his opposite number in the RGA.

And Baroness Abbi Selas of the RGA was equally conciliatory in response “I would ask to be forgiven for the sharpness of my response. This misunderstanding will not stain the relationship between the RGA and BEEF - we are two of the most loyal guilds and the day we start to fight between ourselves is the day that evil wins and slips through the gaps.”
