ARMY MOBILISED TO FACE UNKNOWN THREAT

An emergency mobilisation of the Royal Army has been ordered across the entire Kingdom. From Moonward to Frostward all Army leave has been cancelled and units are either preparing to leave barracks or have already taken to the Kingdom’s roads.
Three regiments of infantry marched out of Poldoon yesterday, apparently destined for Poldoon Pass and the Kyrian border. Their departure immediately fuelled speculation that the diplomatic crisis with the Empire had taken a turn for the worse, but the Bugle has learned that Army units are being mobilised across the whole Kingdom, and far from all marching east towards Kyr they are spreading out to deploy along all of Bereny’s borders.
When the Bugle approached the High Command for an explanation we were told “Following the recent attacks on Crownheart, the Crown is confident that no further forces of extradimensional beings are likely to manifest themselves within the Kingdom’s borders. However there remain concerns that such entities may gain entry to Myriad outside Bereny’s borders. A number of potential points of ingress have been identified just beyond our borders, and as a precautionary step Royal Army units are being deployed to interdict any such hostile forces should they attempt to cross into our territory.”
At the same time the Royal Army has launched a fresh recruitment campaign to increase its numbers, despite the fact that the Army’s strength is higher now than at any time since the reign of King Tobias.
If this were not enough, there are reports that the Duchess of Ghorst is considering following the example of the Duke of Poldoon be raising her own private military units.
