What is the secret of the Two Worlds Citadel?

For years, legends among the Glacier Barbarians have hinted at the existence of a ancient citadel where, once upon a time, the chieftains of the Glacier Folk enacted some strange pact with creatures from another world. However it is an incident that their modern-day counterparts are deeply unwilling to discuss.

A few years ago however, evidence emerged to support the truth of the legends. The previously featureless monolith in the middle of the glaciers, which nobody has entered in centuries, and which is said to have been the site of the citadel, changed. It now had doors, and they stood open. Eery pale lights flicker from within.

Despite this no-one from the Glacier Folk tribes dared enter, fearing that an ancient curse might be re-awoken, and its sheer remoteness has kept adventurers from Bereny from finding it. The Bugle has learnt that it it is only recently, nearly ten years after it re-awakened, that adventurers from Bereny have reached the Two Worlds Citadel.

In fact there are said to be two rival expeditions to discover the secrets of the Citadel, one loosly sponsored by the Great Library and the other by the White Tower.

It was the Great Library expedition, barely, that reached the Citadel first, only to find the entrance guarded by Foul Chill Guards. Having defeated these they proceeded inside to be met by an even greater threat - the Guardians of Setesh, huge blue monsters with claws and terrible fangs that are immune to magic and any sort of melee damage.

They have however discovered that the Citadel is connected to the legendary Foul Chill Caves, a network of caves that run under the iceand interlink apparently across the whole of the SE quadrant of the Southern Glacier. The caves have for years been used by smugglers and by the natives, and their upper levels have been cleared of monsters by generations of travellers. The lower levels, however, are rumoured to contain fierce and deadly monsters that keep all explorers from venturing into the depths.

As for the Citadel itself, perhaps the truth behind the legend of the pact will come to light at last?
