MURDER TREE THREAT IN FARLOW FOREST

The nature guild, the Terin’Sha, has warned of the presence of two monsters they describe as ‘Murder Trees’ on the edge of Farlow Forest, between Mirrormane and Wintred.

Yul Herman, spokes-Leprechaun of the Terin'Sha, reported that they had become aware of the threat from the Baroness of one of the estates lying to the north of the forest. “If there are any seasoned adventurers in the area with a strong axe, something we normally frown upon, the Terin'Sha and the Tempestra Estate would appreciate your assistance.”

Baroness Kei Tempestra, whose estate and people are most immediately at threat, told me “They are known to the locals here as Sapling Terror and Sapling Destroyer. I spotted them as I was patrolling the southern edge of the estate, around the northern border of the Farlow Forest. With only two knights here at the minute for estate protection, I don’t have the forces to deal with opponents of this stature, should they progress further in my direction. So I requested help from the Terin’Sha through an old acquaintance from my adventuring days.”

The Terin’Sha have a particular concern as these monsters - ambulatory predatory trees possessed by evil spirits by all accounts - are some sort of perversion of nature. Druids and rangers affiliated to the Guild, as well as other adventurers and local defence volunteers, are converging on the area to try to end the menace.

However the Terin’Sha are worried that this might be only one manifestation of an evil and anti-natural presence within the forest.

“Farlow Forest has always had an evil reputation”, one local told me. “Pendleton Keep lies within it, and you know all the legends associated with it - like how it was built by this evil King back before the Time of Thunder. And around the Wintred road there are traces that there used to be an estate there, with a castle and village and estate fences and everything, but years ago the forest swallowed it up. That area is said to be haunted by werewolves - no-one from around here dares travel that road when the moon is full.”
