KING APPOINTS NEW ROYAL MAGE

King Dirk has announced the appointment of a new Royal Mage, to fill the post that has been vacant since the disappearance of the previous Royal Mage, Maverick, over five years ago.
The new Royal Mage is Lady Fea, an experienced adventurer who was ennobled by King Mark for her part in the defeat of Drax and the destruction of the demon Jenneta at the Cathedral of Holy Light.
Lady Fea subsequently journeyed into the far South as part of Baron Subetai Wildfire’s
expedition to explore the Southern Glaciers. This enterprise was initiated by the
King when he was Duke of White Citadel, and her many years of service to this ill-
“I would like to thank the many fine candidates who applied for this position”, the King said in his announcement. “It was a difficult decision, but finally I have chosen Lady Fea.”
Lady Fea is a member of both the Royal Guild of Adventurers and the Independent Guild of Wizards, holding the rank of purple torc bearer in the latter organisation. However she was quick to assert in her application that she would show no partiality to the IGW over any other arcane guilds. She also has good relations with the elven community, having been raised among elvenkind following the death of her parents.
As Lady Fea and her adventuring partner Beren de Numenor are still in the depths of the Southern Glaciers where they are aiding the leadership of the Children of Ragnarok in their exploration of the sinister and mysterious Ice Tower, it seems unlikely that she will be able to take up her post in the Royal Palace any time soon.
One of her first tasks may be sort out the crisis currently gripping the arcane community following the King’s ban on use of teleport magic, as rumours from the magical guilds suggest that the situation is much worse than the Royal proclamation is admitting to and may even have effects for ordinary Berenian citizens with no involvement in magic.
In her application for the post Lady Fea said that her unique qualification was that she was not afraid to disagree with the King when called for. This may yet be an attribute that she has to put into practise.
