DEMON SIEGE OF CROWNHEART LIFTED

Dateline: 5-6-517

Under the leadership of Kirk Dirk, the forces of Bereny have now destroyed the last of the Helltroops that were threatening the city of Crownheart. Jubilant crowds of citizens took to the streets to cheer the King and his companions as they returned briefly to the city after their victory.

Dwarven warrior and member of the Walkers on the Edge ‘Mad Ax’ Merv has been singled out for glory by observers for being at the forefront of the battle at all times and being responsible for the destruction of a noteworthy number of the monsters.

Sadly, there were further casualties for the Crown too, and once again it was the White Tower that lost one of its veteran knights, Dame Phoebe Ellerin.

However the threat may not yet be over as it is feared that there may be further hordes of the creatures roaming the surrounding countryside, and the King has warned Crownheart to remain on high alert. Scouts have been dispatched in all directions to find them.

Bereny Bugle reporter Crabb Robinson has accompanied the King’s personal mechanical bodyguard, the clockwork man Meantime and a group of other scouts to the south east of the city, where he has observed that the ravages of the Helltroops have left a huge swathe of scorched land that has destroyed a substantial length of the Crownheart-Lionel road.

Back at the city some of its bolder citizens have left the safety of the walls to return to their homes and businesses in the suburbs. A few merchants and traders have also resumed their business, and produce is starting to move again.

The King himself has requisitioned a haberdasher’s shop in Crownheart’s suburbs to use as a temporary command centre and is waiting with a small force of experienced warriors, including the stalwart Merv and Lord Ismay Shepherd the Lord Crusader of Cambron, for his scouts to report back.
