LAST HELLTROOPS NEAR CROWNHEART DESTROYED

From Crabb Robinson, Crownheart correspondent

Dateline: 2-10-517

The last Helltroop units known to be active in the vicinity of Crownheart have finally been destroyed. The final blow that laid low the last of the creatures was struck by none other than Baroness Glaze Fierien, Bereny’s most famous warrior.

King Dirk, who himself personally lead in the final assault on the creatures, has praised the heroism of all involved in the battle. Addressing a crowd of victorious adventurers and Royal Army soldiers on the site of the Berenian force’s final victory, he said “The area seems clear for now - well done all on a fine effort! All that remains now is to scout around Crownheart to be sure there are no more of them skulking around, and then give it some time to be sure no more are going to break through from the Daemonrift, or whatever hellish dimension they came from.”

However the King was in no mood to speak to the press, and he impatiently brushed off further questions from this reporter, directing them to his mechanical bodyguard Meantime.

The King has now dismissed the Royal Army units which have taken the field in the vicinity of the capitol, and they are marching back to barracks. Around Crownheart, the success of the King and his forces in keeping the Helltroops at bay has allowed life and commerce to return to normal in recent months, but even so the news that the threat is finally over has brought a palpable sense of relief to the city streets.

However scouting patrols are continuing to circle Crownheart in case there are any further incursions, and the Royal Army remains on high alert.

Also, much of the land around Crownheart remains burnt and blackened by the fire and corrosive poison of the hellish creatures, including large sections of the main Crownheart to Lionel road. The Crown has not announced how soon work gangs can be brought up to repair the damage to the road.
